Summer’s heat brings new challenges to keeping your flock comfortable and healthy. Start by inspecting and cleaning all vents and windows to maximize airflow—consider adding a shade cloth over the run to block harsh afternoon sun. Swap out damp bedding for fresh, dry shavings at least twice a week to prevent odor and ammonia buildup. Check waterers daily, scrubbing algae and replenishing cool, clean water; add frozen water bottles for extra chill on scorcher days. Look for signs of external parasites under feathers and treat promptly.
